Hello! My name is
Steph. I’m an aspiring art major hailing
from Los Angeles, specifically the San Fernando Valley. I’ve been drawing for as long as I can
remember, but it wasn’t until I entered high school that I discovered and fell
in love with the art of oil painting.
Now, it’s my medium of choice.
Most of the work I do consists of photo-realistic portraits. I like to use musicians as subjects, mostly
because I’m already somewhat familiar with their faces and it makes it easier
for me to capture their likeness. My
parents have always been and continue to be incredibly supportive of my art,
for which I am very grateful. Neither of
them is particularly artsy, and they’re not quite sure where I got my
creativity from. One thing I did inherit
from them, however, is a love for music.
All my life I’ve been surrounded by stacked towers of CD’s, concerts,
instruments, and recording equipment. A
couple months ago I found out my parents left me at home with a babysitter when
I was 6 days old to go to an Alice
Cooper concert. It’s really no surprise
that I attend as many shows as I do now.
My favorite bands are The Strokes, Vampire Weekend, and Arctic
Monkeys. I’m a big fan of owning
physical copies of music, so probably a third of my dorm room is taken up with
vinyl records and stacks of CD’s. I also
have the tendency to decorate whatever space I inhabit, meaning that every
empty space on the walls in my room is covered in pictures, posters, concert
tickets, setlists, and more. I don’t
know what I want to do with my life yet.
The dream would be to find something that incorporates both art and the
music business. I’m sure I’ll figure it
out eventually.
